Is hate necessary for love? Suffering necessary for joy?

These are just some of the many questions discussed in my book (Aug 2013),

The Other God’s Earth: No Sin, No Death, No Evil: Part One: Introduction [Amazon Link $.99]. it is the first of a seven-book series.

The central tenet of this alternate universe, where there is no sin, death or evil, is, of course, no.

That is the hypothesis. Now let the debate begin.

In Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert [2007; Amazon Link] the author posits how the concept of happiness is truly subjective and the happiness of the billionaire cannot be compared to the happiness of a Zimbabwe bushman. A January 2013 Gallup Poll indicated that South American countries were most often listed as those with the happiest inhabitants. Many industrial countries, like Singapore, ranked low on the happiness scale.

My thesis is that, for one, my hypothesis is nearly untestable; there is no way to determine if someone, who has had a relatively problem-free life, born in affluence, and achieved great success in life, is less happy, than someone who was born dirt-poor and achieved the same level of success. Both would most likely state they are happy and fulfilled. There is no way to know if their levels are the same or not.

The Other God’s Earth is not a research project; it is a thought experiment. It posits that rejecting this alternative universe, and the concept of a world without hate, death and war, is the product of a lack of imagination, not that it would diminish our enjoyment of life.

What do you think?
